ICJ
Agenda: Rwandan Genocide Trial
The first ever International Court of Justice at OISMUN will examine the 1994 Rwandan Genocide, a tragic event resulting in approximately 800,000 deaths over 100 days. Delegates will explore the historical ethnic tensions between Hutus and Tutsis, exacerbated by colonial legacy and political manipulation. The agenda covers the genocide's catalyst, execution by Hutu extremists, and the international community's inadequate response, including the UN's limited intervention. Discussions will focus on the role of media in inciting violence, the failure of global powers to prevent the atrocity, and its long-term impact on international humanitarian law and genocide prevention strategies. This committee aims to analyze past shortcomings and propose more effective future responses to such crises.

Assistant Director
At 6 '0 (the hair adds 6 inches), Aditya Braganza is the personification of diplomacy and chaos. With his needling POIs on international law, or his wild crisis paperwork that brings technology-destroying weapons into existence, Aditya is sure to make any committee a riveting experience. This rock-climbing, guitar-playing (amateur at best), coding MUNner is full of surprises, and will make your committee as engaging as possible. Aditya loves a speech full of theatrics, but will heavily look down upon lack of substance. So make sure to do your research thoroughly and verify it, or you will receive a very passionate verbal beatdown. But don’t be fooled by his aggression in committee or his accolades, because he is the most kind and helpful chair you could have, so if you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to him. You couldn’t ask for a better chair to welcome you into the world of MUN.
As an ally, he is your greatest asset; as your enemy, he is your greatest competition; and as your chair, he'll be the greatest mentor to guide you through your first MUN conference. By delivering earth-shattering speeches in committee to creative and innovative paperwork, he leaves every delegate with their jaw dropped in awe. Meet Yuvaan Gupta, born with a natural panache for debating; he can practically debate on any topic and end up thrashing the opposition. (Trust me; I know.) Apart from the world of politics, Yuvaan is an award-winning national-level swimmer (or so he claims), often called the Michael Phelps of Goregaon (mostly by himself). Yuvaan excels in every activity he takes part in. While he may seem intimidating at first, Yuvaan is one of the kindest and most approachable people that you will ever meet. If you ever need help, never hesitate to ask him because he will always be there for you. To get extra brownie points from Yuvaan, talk about his one true love: food. He can have conversations for hours just talking about the taste of "Murgh Malai" (Trust me; I know). Get ready because with Yuvaan as your chair, you are going to have the most unforgettable experience of your life!
